YEAR LONG ACTIVITIES

 Each year you can look forward to our Saint Patrick's Day party, summer party and Christmas party.  This year, 2008, was better than last as members marched in the second Los Angeles City Saint Patrick's Day Parade. Then the annual Hermosa Beach Saint Patrick's Day Parade, followed by an open house party at the nearby residence of one of our members.  The Emerald Society can also be found in attendance at the annual Los Angeles Irish Fair.  Members and Associate members work the booth and give away free information from the different agencies to the public.  Everyone is welcome to stop by and say "hi" or get free stuff for the kids or neighborhood information that may benefit you. Additionally, through our newsletter, The Garda News, you can find out about other activities, and activities in the Irish-American community in this area.

A favorite activity of the Emerald Society is attending the Notre Dame vs. University of Southern California football game at the Los Angeles Coliseum.  The teams play each other annually, but the game is held at the Coliseum only on even years.  We have a fantastic pre-game tailgate party which is included with the game ticket.  It is outstanding and well worth attending.  This event is called our pigfest event.  Sell quick so get tickets early.

Interested in becoming a bagpiper or drummer?  Bagpipe and drum lessons are offered through the Los Angeles Police Emerald Society's Pipe Major.  Members of our band have appeared a number of law enforcement-related events and parades.  Further information can be obtained at our monthly meetings or by contacting the Pipe Major, Scott Walton.

General membership meetings are held monthly at the Los Angeles Police Academy Lounge, located at 1880 North Academy Drive, Los Angeles, CA.  Meetings begin at 7:00 P.M.  You may call (213) 7IRISH3 for meeting information.
